Engagement Guest Books!

I have to begin this post by thanking Norris, my awesome mentor and fellow photographer now living and working in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Last summer, I got to shoot several weddings with Norris Carden, and the engagement session guest books he created were just awesome!

If you’ve been planning a wedding, I’m sure that one of the items you’ve had to ponder is the guest book. Traditionally, this is a boring white book covered in satin or faux leather, potentially including a lovely little pen with its own little holder to set beside the book. Inside is page after page of little lines with teensy scrolly designs at either end. Maybe there are headings for “name” and “address” so you can reference where to send your thank you’s. But hang on- don’t you already have their addresses? I mean, they got an invite if they made it to the wedding, right? Usually?Â

So why use the boring white guest book? Why not use a book that will become a keepsake heirloom? One that you will proudly display on the coffee table in your home, and open often to re-read the beautiful sentiments that your wedding guests wrote to you? I did this myself, and I can tell you that I certainly do read this book and relive our fun engagement session! I can’t say how many times per year, since we’ve not yet been married a year, but I’ll tally and update everyone once we get there. Promise!

Now that I’m gearing up for my own first bridal show, I had to order one. I’m so excited to receive this book from VisionArt! The book quality is beautiful. Since I don’t have design templates for this size, I design these books myself.

Marianne and Corey’s E-session went so well that I just had to use them for the entire book. This will give you a feel for what a full engagement session can look like.
