Julie & Matt :: Married! :: Wisconsin Wedding Photographer

I learned yesterday that I just love working with creative clients. You may remember Julie and Matt from their beautiful engagement session on a sailboat in Madison- so right away you know this couple is going to be fun! Their unique interests and stories were intertwined throughout every aspect of their wedding day.

The Hilltop in Spring Green, Wisconsin was a natural wonderland with fun and lovely details everywhere. Julie and Matt chose the most beautiful detail, a large Catalpa tree with heart-shaped leaves, to shelter them from a few raindrops while they said their vows.  In lieu of a traditional reading during the ceremony, one of the bridesmaids and the groom’s sister shared insight into Julie and Matt’s personalities with short speeches about who they are and how they’ve affected one another. The toasts at dinner were also filled with biographical tidbits about the couple, a calculation of the number of breaths the best man has devoted to speaking their names together (he can speak “Schroeder and Jules” 26 times in one breath!) and heartfelt, sincere wishes of love and happiness from a few of what you could tell are many great friends and family in their lives.

I felt truly blessed to be a part of Matt and Julie’s day! Thank you guys for having me- it was an honor and a beautiful experience.

Enjoy the preview!

I have a soft spot in my heart for Jeeps, as does Julie:

With lots of time for details at the Usonian Inn, we did some shots of the bridesmaids’ shoes, too:

Morgan and I had guessed what Julie’s dress might look like, but we were both wrong. It WAS, however, beautiful! We borrowed this crocheted hanger from a nearby store. The store owner’s mother had crocheted the covering:

This is one of my favorite getting ready shots:

Because the ceremony and reception were at the same location, Julie and Matt chose a “First Look” to capture the first time they saw each other on the wedding day. Matt’s giant smile is so great:

Matt’s smile was contagious when he was focused on his bride:

After the receiving line and some group shots, we stole away to the beautiful tree once more. Julie got adventurous- the first bride I’ve known to climb a tree on her actual wedding day! This is my favorite shot from the entire day:

My favorite detail from the reception was the favors. Julie and Matt are gardeners in their new backyard, so they shared more than a dozen types of fresh herbs with her guests. Morgan and I were thrilled to find little pots with our names on them, too!

Congratulations, Matt and Julie…and best wishes for the happiest life together. July 25 was just the beginning!

And as a P.S., this was my first of three weddings with Morgan as an assistant (remember her from her bridal session last week?). She did a fantastic job and I can’t wait to work with her again in just less than a week! THANKS Morgan!
