I’ve been reconnecting recently with all kinds of friends from my past, and this engagement session was one more such opportunity! The beautiful bride-to-be in these images is Amy, and she and I attended church and high school together in Waukesha, Wisconsin. They’re even getting married at the same church where Amy & I took confirmation classes together! Amy made my day a month or so ago when she sent me a message to inform me that she had just gotten engaged- and that I was her first choice photographer, how cool! I was thrilled that I had her date open.
On a sunny fall Sunday afternoon, I met Amy and Jesse at Holy Hill in Southeast Wisconsin. The colors were beautiful, the crisp fall air was refreshing, and the sky was a beautiful blue. The basilica itself was a bit crowded, so we did most of our shooting among the hiking trails that feature sculptures representing the stations of the cross. It was such fun to chat with Amy again, and to get to know Jesse. They’re such a happy couple together! The photos tell it all!
We warmed up in a little hidden corner outside the basilica, with fun red doors.Â![]()

I love these two shots- Jesse and Amy crack up together, so I’m guessing that Jesse gets to see this infectious laugh all the time!

I love the look on Jesse’s face in this one, quietly reveling in Amy’s little kiss:

Such a bright and beautiful blue, we had a completely clear sky!

There were several nice benches around, and the leaves were a beautiful yellow.

The trails brought more and more yellow leaves. This shot was just after they tossed a pile of leaves in the air, hence the leaf that is balancing on Jesse’s head!

This one is just precious, and I didn’t coach it! This was just Jesse’s way of connecting with his wife-to-be.

Each station of the cross had a beautiful rock enclosure.

This spot made me feel like it was really fall in Wisconsin! Leaves on the ground, colors everywhere, and that crisp, blue sky.

OK, fess up: how long has it been since YOU sat in a pile of leaves? Go ahead, it’s therapeutic!

I loved these matching hats. Really cute!

To Amy & Jesse: thanks for the lovely hike in such a great location! These photos were a blast, and I can’t wait for your wedding. Thank you for choosing me as your photographer, this is going to be fun!
