A space of one’s own is a beautiful thing. It’s a place where thoughts can expand, dreams can take shape, and one can find inspiration.
Last winter, my husband Eric & I purchased our first house together. We’ve spent the last several months making that house our home. We’ve bathed the walls in our favorite colors and filled the corners of each room with the things that make us comfortable. While we share most of the space in our little two-story, there are a few areas of the house that my sweet hubby has surrendered to me and to Red Gecko Studio…and those are the spaces I get to share with YOU!
One of the big decisions every serious photographer has to face at some point in the business planning is meeting space. When I meet my clients for the first time, it’s a personal experience. The usual local coffee shop or Noodles restaurant worked for a while (and provided yummy surroundings!). When I decided it was time for a dedicated meeting space, I considered renting a studio or storefront around Madison. Upon further research, however, I realized that this would only result in a burden to my brides- I would have to charge more just to pay the rent. Because that isn’t an option I’d like to pursue at this time, I brought my work home…and I set up shop right in the first room of our home. Our den is making a slow and steady transformation into Red Gecko Studio’s showroom and meeting space.
Officially opening the doors of my very own home to my potential clients is fitting for my style. I don’t just want to be another vendor on your big day- I want to be someone you can trust who will be your advocate and friend. It makes sense to me that the beginning of our client-photographer relationship has a personal touch. And with that, how about a tour?Â![]()
This room was originally slated to be our library, so the first thing you’ll see through the french doors is our book collection. We love books!

On the wall opposite the large bay window is my wall of current favorites. It’s fun to update these! The cute green chairs are antiques that my mom found years ago. I’ve always loved them.

And finally, my favorite part of the room: the damask settee-style couch! Make yourself comfortable here and enjoy your visit…and tell me all about your wedding!

I look forward to meeting many clients in my home in the future- and colleagues, too! So send me a quick email or phone call to set up a time to visit.Â
Coming soon: Red Gecko Studio coffee mugs to complete the experience!
